Alexa and Search Engines

15th Apr 2005General, Internet

I was excited this morning to find that my Alexa ranking for chrissandberg.com had jumped to 1,434,804. It had previously been over 5,000,000. Alexa started crawling my site a couple weeks ago and from what I understand it takes a couple months to get an accurate ranking, and even then it isn’t that accurate unless your site is in the top 100,000. Apparently I do have a little traffic to my site which is surprising considering I haven’t told many people about my website.

A few search engines also started crawling my website a couple weeks ago and I’m proud to say I am now listed as #3 in Yahoo for the keyword “Chris Sandberg.” That really isn’t saying much since I know not many people will be searching for that, but It’s nice to know that If someone were looking for me they would be able to find me. I still have not been crawled by google so I’m not listed there yet. However, the website for Vire Design(a web development company I’m starting) is listed as #1 for the keywords “Vire Design” in both Yahoo and Google. Hopefully we can get listed high for some keywords that people actually use.
