What I learned in Junto

6th May 2005General

I recently finished an entrepreneurship program taught by Greg Warnock, manging director of vSpring Capital, called Junto. Every Wednesday evening for seven weeks I drove to the Miller Innovation Center in Sandy, Utah to particpate in the program. It was definatly a life changing experience. The greatest value I got from the program was a sense of empowerment that came from the knowledge, training, and experience I recieved. Here is a brief list of specific knowledge and insights I gained from the experience that I will apply in my future business endevours.

-Pursue a string of business opportunities so that you are not tied to the fate of just one venture.

-Successful entrepreneurs are willing to work for free.
-When you spot a good opportunity take immediate action to test your assumptions about it. If your assumptions are wrong move on.
-Start by selling. After you know you can sell it then produce it.
-Be open with your ideas and knowledge, and be willing to help others with no thought of compensation.
-Pursue opportunities in turbulent, fragmented, and emerging markets.
-Network all the time.

I would like to publicly thank Greg for starting Junto, Tara Rosander for all that she has done for Junto, Allan Hall for his contribution, and all the participants of Junto 2005 for being a part of one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I look forward to the future of Junto.
